So what’s new since I last blogged? Well, we still await the full opening up of the Philippines to ‘foreigners’ as they describe us. But tourism is high on the agenda and so its likely that ‘tourists’ will be able to return soon.
Covid is still here like it is everywhere and I must confess that more and more I am of the view that we’ve all been exposed at one time or another and just don’t appear to have the same high death rate here as in other countries such as my own. I put this down to the hardiness of the local population who lets face it have had an uphill battle since childhood in some cases and the hardiness of any ‘foreigner’ who has remained.
Enough of the politics though, lets talk about diving. We are finally seeing some of our familiar guests returning from their Filipino bunkers and we certainly look forward to more friends at Capt’n Gregg’s. It’s still a bit of a trek and involves coordination with the tourism office here and a private transfer with the obligatory cotton bud up the nose on route but it can be done.
Today we are bracing for the coming typhoon/depression code name QUINTA but still managed to get in an early morning dive prior to the boats being moved into the sheltered bay. A very god dive on Alma Jane with almost no current and pretty good visibility….enough to allow some video footage inside (as well of outside of course). You can find the clip on my video page and on facebook. Otherwise go to my page on you tube https://youtu.be/W2Idz_gE8Uo
Well on the domestic front Mia continues to complete here DMT and I have to say here skill demonstration is very good. Must be all those Tic Tak videos! The huskies are growing fast and require more walking now (or running as it happens). Life continues in our quiet part of the world as like everyone we await the new normal.
Well, the xmas lights are up….they have been for a while! As I type this the winds have picked up and its raining hard but Kylo and Logan still want to go out so I will sign off with the positive thought that I won’t need the aircon on for the next few days.
Totum Maior Summa Partum and hope to see you soon.
Jay.
