About Scuba-Jay

Dive Instructor

Magandang Araw sa inyong lahat.(Good day to you all). Let me welcome you to my website where I hope you will answer all your questions and lead you to one more…when can I start?

I started diving in 2006 predominantly in the Red Sea for a number of years before travelling the world including diving in Europe (Malta, Cyprus, Canary Islands), and Asia (Thailand, Maldives, Mauritius, Philippines). In fact, whilst born in the UK, alas I have not dived there preferring the UK waters for my triathlons.

I spent the last few years of my UK working life travelling to Puerto Galera where I took my years of shore and liveaboard experiences to a professional and technical level. I qualified as an OWSI in May 2019.

I retired from law enforcement and relocated to the Philippines at the beginning of 2020 where I lived with my wife Mia , our niece Ayumi, nephew Rey and our two husky dogs Logan and Kylo.

My permanent move to the Philippines sadly coincided with the Covid Pandemic and I have seen the first hand suffering of the tourism industry in Puerto Galera. During restrictions I have worked tirelessly to promote diving in PG and spent time with some great dive resorts including Capt’n Gregg’s, Badladzs, Reef Haven and LLV to name but a few. I take part in regular ocean clean-ups and removal of the reef destroying Crown of Thorns Starfish whenever I can.

In the Summer 2023 I re-joined Capt’n Gregg’s on a permanent basis as the Dive Shop Manager. To celebrate this move I completed Crossover training with DiveRAID and we became the first to offer Resort based training in Puerto Galera.

Late in 2024 I also crossed over to Scuba Diving International (SDI) to work with the US Veterans program.

At the start of 2025 I moved to Dive Dojo, Sabang and became the Dive Shop Manager there.

Family commitments led to my relocation in May 2025 to Dumaguete, Negros Oriental. Whilst I will miss my time in Puerto Galera I now look forward to my diving career in Dauin.

The diving is definitely tamer than the currents of Puerto Galera, but more importantly, Dumaguete offers much easier access from Manila with a 60 minute flights with options throughout the day. I have seen all to often the irregular boat service from Batangas to Puerto Galera ruin peoples holidays and also my own travel needs.

So now I embark on my latest adventure working with Gary at Aqua Adventura Divers to once more promote and deliver the RAID agency.

As the year end approaches I will no longer offer courses through SDI and I acknowledge my good friend and mentor Phil Jennings here for the opportunities we pursued.

I am now dedicated to delivering RAID training and work with James OMAC from Raid Philippines to help raise the profile of this growing agency.

There is a reason I decided to take this direction and I hope that my future divers will follow my footsteps.
