About Mia

Hi I’m Mia.

In 2018 I started Scuba Diving and fell in live with the ocean. I loved diving so much I put myself through the sometimes tough training of Rescue Diver and now Dive Master so that I could learn much more about my chosen sport.

Of course like everyone, I have found it difficult to keep going through the covid Pandemic but I always believed things would get better and other people would want to do what I do. Why wouldn’t you? The diving in Puerto Galera is awesome and its diversity and ease of access is why so many people come here and then return. It’s certainly why Scuba-Jay came here…that and me of course!

Then in 2021 Padi announced the Mermaid course. This seemed to be to the amusement of some but not to us. I like every other girl I know, and some boys too, wanted to be able to swim and be photographed as a mermaid. Seeing those free diver photos of divers suspended in motion looks so cool. So why not with a Mermaid tail? Of course having your feet bound together does add to the excitement and skill.

So in 2021 I got together with Padi Course Director Sabine Henkel (Shellina Azul), the first accredited Mermaid instructor in the whole Philippines, and along with some friends from the Badladz Resort and Yourdivepro team, I completed all my training to become a Mermaid Instructor.
