Puerto Galera was the original capital of Mindoro (now Calapan, 50km south east). The dive resort sits within the Barangay of Sabang, one of a number of Barangays (local wards/councils) within the Puerto Galera district. The main town of Puerto Galera includes Mulle Pier and a few kilometres to the west Balatero Pier, both ports accessible from Batangas on the Luzon mainland.
Puerto Galera offers Landbank and PNB allowing tourist access to cashpoints, a larger supermarket and access to jeepneys and trikes to take you west towards White Beach or East towards Calapan. Calapan is an hours drive and has a number of malls, cinemas and the largest port on Mindoro connecting to Batangas on a regular schedule and further afield.
Mindoro is split between Oriental and Occidental. Infact work continues to complete the road link connecting the Northern border of this east west divide. Mindoro falls within the Luzon regional area however offers a unique view of the cross over between Manila and the Provinces.
Where ever you are there is plenty of choice when it comes to restaurants and bars to suit all tastes.
Take a trip to the famous Puerto Galera waterfalls and bath in the fresh mountain water.
