Well I just realised I have been quiet for 2024 with no blogs. That doesn’t mean I’ve been quiet at work. It has been an extremely busy with managing the dive shop and providing courses in between assisting all of our guest divers with the best experience we can. I recruited a new team including Kexia as a RAID dive instructor. A plan long in the making saw Sung return to fast track his diving career from Deep diver to Instructor. In order to support this I crossed over to SDI (Scuba Diving International) as the training was funded by the US Veterans Association. It was a lot of hard work but also a lot of fun. Towards the end of the year Mark came along as a Padi Instructor to compliment the options available to students.
As the year ended and I reviewed my experiences during 2024 it was with sadness that I had to take a break from diving for a month to focus on my health and that of my expanding family responsibilities. This gave me a chance to refocus on what it was I wanted to do, rather that what others wanted to do.
With the increased team at CG, I felt it time to hand over to Kexia to allow a fresh look at the needs of CG divers. It is with sadness that I have decided to move on in order to focus on my own style of diving leadership.
It is with this in mind that I applied for and was accepted to the role of dive shop manager at Dive Dojo (a short walk from CG) where I can focus on a more select provision of diver training and diving services. As a TDI 5 Star dive centre there will be options for me to advance my professional qualifications in the direction of Technical Instruction and possibly in time further steps within the TDI/SDI operation. Time will tell of course.
What hasn’t changed is my high standards and safety conscious focus to diving provision and in particular to those who receive training under my management. It is likely Sung will join me to continue his professional adventure. Whilst we both retain the in status teaching requirements for Raid diving our focus will be more towards SDI instruction.
So as a new year starts and new possibilities present themselves, why not take the time to come and dive with me.
